Introduction

RODER Electronics suggests thicknesses and widthmeters DIMES series. DIMES'sapplications family represents the natural evolution of one series of sensors, systems and software developed in a first time to satisfy particulars gauge's requirements (custom systems realized purposely for particulars productives requirements) and afterwards standarized until to become a tested and entrusted product suggested in differents productives sectors and suited for any productive requirement or quality's control.

DIMES's family is composed by a series of hardware components, software, gauge's instruments and mechanicals supports purposely developed for the gauge and thicknesses and breadths of products in productivity line and metrelogic laboratory.

The remarkable experience and the employment of technologies purposely developed by RODER Electronics has allowed to improve the performance of systems of thickness end width's gauge. LTMS family is composed by differents components destined to form a complete system for the gauge of thickness and/or even or tactful's products. The employment of laser's sources allows to effect thickness and width's gauge without contact but directly to the transit material on the production's line.

The physical contact's absence between gauge's instrument and product to gauge
implies more advantages, foe example:

 Thickness'gauge with 2 laser sensors at optical triangulation

It is the most used technique for gauge thickness without contact with optics technologies.
The employment of two sensors at optics triangulation let to effect thickness gauge on materials with wides variations of thickness and sometimes also with wide material swing.

The two optics triangulation sensors behave like two traditionals mechanics comparators and gauge at the same time the distance between themselves and object's area.Across a special electronic system of sampling is possible to obtain thickness'gauge quite apart from object position and sometimes also in the presence of strong swings.

Thickness gauge with one laser sensor at optical triangulation

Thickness gauge effected with one optics triangulation sensor let to make goods gauges and reliable only if there's absence of vibrations and the certainty that the material subordinated at gauge be always in contact with a cylinder or with an even area of check.

Otherwise the sensor must gauge not only material's thickness but also vibrations and swings of material.

RODER Electronics has developed software and electronic-cards to minimize effects of vibrations and swings of ,material, but it's necessary to carefully analyse and value gauge conditions to obtain greatest results of precision.

This solution has the advantage of a cut in costs as far as gauge instrumentation and of all the gauge and control system. Sometimes vibration effects of material can be reduced or eliminated with the help of special data-elaboration systems that have lower costs than the adoption of a second gauge sensor.

Thickness gauge with two inductive, capacitive or eddy current sensors

Sometimes is preferable to employ no-optics sources for productives reasons or for material type to control ( vapourous environments, oil or atomized solvents, gauges of metallics objects with lubrificatings no-removibles, gauge surfaces with veryinductives strong colour variations or with “glass-working” etc...)

In these cases is necessary to adopt a sensor which functioning principle don't be characterized from the employment of a light source and from their reception optics.

RODER Electronics in these cases suggests solutions based on inductives, capacitives or eddy current sensors.

Non-optic sensors are a good choice in alternative with laser sensors and they can be used also in applications where are required others high accurancies or attendances of sampling.

Also in this case RODER Electronics has developed special electronics cards, mechanicals equippings end software for the data elaboration to obtain reliables and constants thickness'gauges also in hards operatings situations or critics environmemts.

Thickness gauge with one laser calliper

Another very diffused method for thickness gauge, particularly as far as plastics film either softs materials or easily deformables materials, is characterized by a laser calliper employment.

This method of gauge can arrive a very highs accurancies (+/- um) with reliability and good stability of gauge.

Functioning principle is based on the shadow's projections created from material passing on a check cylinder.micrometer thickness

In this case is necessary the employment of particulars analysis, filtering and compensation techniques of gauge coming from a laser source. In fact thickness gauge realized with this technique (especially if you want accurancies and reliability gauge in any operating condition) suffers from trouble effects like vibrations and swings of mechanical movers involved in gauge (both of sensor movement and object movement).

Widening: Width gauge with sensors without contact

Width gauge with two laser callipers

Width gauge realized with two laser callipers let to obtain an exact and reliable gauge also with wide swings of material that is subordinate at gauge.

The presence of a particwidthular optics system and special electronics devices for the acquisition we let to obtain very high precisions (also +/- 1 um) and to work with any material (metal, paper, glass, plastic, etc...) and at any speed (it can arrive at speed of 1000 mt/min).

In presence of dirty or vapourous can be fournished pressurization mechanics and pneumatic circuits for the optics cleaning.

Width gauge realized with laser callipers is very diffused in many industrials sectors and RODER Electronics forms “key in hand” systems both for the only width gauge, both with LTMS systems that gauge the contemporary measure of thickness and the breadth (integrated system in an only gauge equipment).

Width gauge with two linear cameras

The same gauge effected with laser callipers is realizable with linear televisions camera or with laser CCD sensors.width


The main difference between the solution realized with two laser callipers is the shortest obtainable precision and the greater sensibility to dirty and vapourous.


This solution has the advantage to effect a greater number of measures on second and to have a lower cost.


Also in this case can be furnished the pressurization mechanics and the pneumatic circuits for optics cleaning.




 

Width gauge with two profile meter laser

The necessity to don't use a transmitter and a receiver placed one in front of the other (for example for obstruction problems or for the impossibility to install a sensor under the gauge plane) has urged RODER Electronics at the realization of a system for breadth's gaugescansion based on two profile meters laser light.

In a profile meter laser both the laser transmitter and the reception element are assembled in an only container.

This feature give very inreresting the installation of this laser system in those situations where is impossible to have one of the two parts constituting the gauge system placed under the gauge plane.

For example if we must gauge a plate with a strong presence of lubricatings or liquids that can drip on the inferior sensor,this is the most suitable solution.
