RUGGED ENCLOSURE SYSTEM FOR EMBEDDED PC/104 SYSTEMS
Description
RODER Electronics
LG-TBOX-104 is a new and unique design specifically produced to protect
PC/104 electronics such as instrumentation, data collectors, remote
terminals, data acquisition systems or other solutions that work in
hostile and industrial environments.
The LG-TBOX-104 is constructed of extruded aluminium profile : its
structure is very flexible because can accomodate any number of PC/104
modules including their cabling and pheripherals in a minimum amount of
space.
These units are also priced to be used anywhere embedded electronics require a black box.
The LG-TBOX-104 can also protect the PC/104 electronics from vibrations
and G-forces that can reduce their reliability. As option it can be
accomplished using a system of isolating and absorbing rubber mountings.
A wide variety of panels with standard and custom openings are
available for the LG-TBOX-104 includings openings for DB9, DB15, DB25,
DB37, USB, circular connectors, PS2, and RJ45 connectors. Custom panels
with any combination of connector holes can be supplied to meet
specific client requirements.
Each anodized aluminium panel is securely attached to the housing with a large number of screws.
Mounting of PC104 boards
The internal dimension of LG-TBOX-104 can accept the standard PC104 board plus the lateral connectors.
The lateral special profile provide a good heat dissipation and can keep the internal temperature at a safety level.
The fixing base, also made in anodized aluminium, allows an easy dissipation produced from the electronics

Mounting of PC104 stack
The PC/104 stack
is mounted by fixing it directly on the housing base. It is possible to
put in the same housing 12 boards with connectors and possibly power
supply.
On the upper panel there are the external connectors and supply switches or warning lights.
The total system height is given from the chosen profile lenght
(between 20 and 200 mm or between 1 and 10 inches) plus 5 mm (3 mm for
the base thickness and 2 mm for the cover thickness).
The use of fixing spacers with antivibrating elements allows the system
employment also in environments characterized by strong vibrations.
The use of special gasket allows the system employment in harsh environments or where there are liquids or powders.
System Composition
The system is composed by three pieces :
The body
It is possible to choose between 26 standard models. The standard colour
is anodized blue. On request it is possible to build special bodies
with custom height and custom colour.
The base
An universal base, 3 mm thickness, is available to fix the standard PC/104 module.
The cover
It is possible to choose between a lot of standards covers. On request
it is possible to produce special models, with special openings or with
special connector position. In the cover it is possible to put
connectors, switches, leds or everything is necessary to interface the
boards with an external device.

Base
 
Aluminium base with a thickness of 3 mm for the structure fixing.
The base is provided complete with galvanized black fixing screws for the connection to the profile.
Anodized blue is the standard colour but is available also in black, red, green, yellow and silver.
On the base there are 4 standard holes for the PC/104 board fixing. On
the lateral part there are 10 holes for the housing fixing on a wall.
